Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they reported in a release.
Law enforcement report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
A senior representative stated the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This act affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he posted on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
